Importing Bookmarks

Parsnips has the ability to scan your entire bookmarks file, downloading and indexing each web page you have bookmarked. The bookmark file you choose does not technically have to be a true bookmark file. Any HTML file containing web page references will work as well.

Since each web page must be downloaded, bookmark importing may take several minutes, depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of your bookmarks file.

After choosing the Import Bookmarks command, a dialog window will appear asking you to choose the file containing the bookmarks you want to import.

If you cannot find your bookmarks file, you can export it from your browser: The exact procedure for doing this varies with the browser you are using:

  • Internet Explorer: choose Import and Export... from the File menu. Click Next and then select Export Favorites.
  • Mozilla and Firefox: choose Manage bookmarks... from the Bookmarks menu. In the window that opens, choose Export... from the File menu.
  • Opera: choose Export from the File menu.
  • Safari: There is no command in Safari to export the bookmarks, however, the bookmark file may be found in "<user home>/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist".
